Last updated: June 2026. This policy explains what HTML Blog (htmlblog.net) collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English — the same way we write everything else here.
Who we are
HTML Blog is an independent publication at https://htmlblog.net covering web development, coding, consumer technology, and a small library of free browser-based developer tools. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
The short version
- We don’t ask you to create an account or hand over personal details to read articles or use our tools.
- Our developer tools (formatters, encoders, generators, and so on) run entirely in your browser. The data you paste into them is never uploaded to our servers.
- We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which articles are useful — never to build advertising profiles.
- We never sell your data. Full stop.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive whatever you include in that message (your email address and its contents) so we can reply. That’s the only direct contact channel on the site — there is no sign-up form, comment login, or newsletter that stores your details.
Information collected automatically
Like virtually every website, our server and our content-delivery provider (Cloudflare) record standard technical log data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and a timestamp. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and to keep the site online. We also use lightweight, aggregate analytics to count page views and see which topics readers find helpful.
Our browser tools
The tools under /tools/ — HTML Formatter, JSON Formatter, Base64 Encoder, Regex Tester, and the rest — process everything locally in your browser using JavaScript. Whatever you type or paste into a tool stays on your device. We do not see it, log it, or transmit it.
Cookies
HTML Blog uses very few cookies. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Some essential cookies may be set by WordPress (for example, if an administrator logs in) or by Cloudflare for security and performance. You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings without losing access to the articles or tools.
Third-party services
A few trusted services help us run the site:
- Cloudflare — content delivery, caching, and security (DDoS and bot protection).
- Google Fonts — we load typefaces from Google’s font CDN so pages render with our chosen fonts.
- Embedded media — some articles may embed images or code examples; embedded content behaves as if you visited that third-party site directly.
These providers have their own privacy policies governing the data they process.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to: deliver and secure the website, fix problems, understand which content is useful, and respond to messages you send us. We do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Data retention
Server and security logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and abuse prevention, then rotated out. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we collect so little, these requests are usually simple — just email [email protected] and we’ll help.
Children
HTML Blog is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected here on this page.
